Terry, my Granddad used to say about how much he loved gooseberry jam. Sad to say, I don't think I've ever had gooseberry jam, nor even gooseberries come to think of it. These though are red huckleberries. This particular bush (my secret stash) gets more sunlight than most (they grow in the forest, out of rotting stumps) so the berries on it are almost the size of blueberries. The picture doesn't really get across the size of them too well. And of course they do make a good jam. You can use them in all sorts of recipes. Pancakes, breads, etc. They make a good compote for on top of ice cream.
