Acrostic Poem: Hyssop

Hwæt! They drowse the air beside the beans,
Yielding heavy, hairy spires to the bees.
Simple, brilliant, modest colour of their blooms
Spreads a dazzling flush when teamed, bush by bush.
Opulence near escapes the eye with these!
Pure as their inner pungence, washing clean!

Acrostic Poem - On Root Canal

Recline while the numbing freeze reaches to the eye,
Ossifies the face's left side; read a bit
On melting ice caps, poor polar bears, while freeze sinks in.
Then 'tis time, just when you relax: nurse comes in.

Confine the tooth in screw device and rubber shield
Against the mouth; rubber wedge into the other side.
Now the unyielding tooth-grate, shooting rills, drilling filling
Astoundingly, your jack-hammered head; now tell us,
Lift your hand if you taste something really awful.

Acrostic Poem (on Abortion)

Assuage the one whose wounded womb, in-slain,
Bears the double death, betrayal's ice,
O living flame from the sacred heart of Christ.
Remove, by Your murdered Corpus, murder's stain.
Take the mother's tears to drown the echoing
Imprint of the infant beating heart's bane:
Only every ounce of each one's being, a lost child,
Needs Your in-dwelling, O Eucharistic Christ Child.

Acrostic Poem (on Pumpkins)

Peter, Peter…well, perhaps he was a cannibal.
Unforthcoming is the rhyme - does not tell
More than it means to say. Sort of like the gourd
Plump and glowing in the fields, oddly orange,
Keeping to its selfsame shape, its own hearth-warm orb,
Indulging none with any word: and so we set
Nimble Jack's candle into it, quite lit, you see,
So further deepen the gourd's seat mystery.

Acrostic poem (On Spirit and Mammon)

This acrostic is somewhat sketchy.

September 10th. tomorrow, some real smart
Physicists will use 17 miles of stuff
In Europe to smash subatomic hearts
Right at each other: sort of like the rough
Inflamed bout between a husband and wife
That yet unexplainably gives them new lights?

Answers some: but will it give me higher speed
Net, or better resolution on my tube?
Dunces we are, even in the midst of

Mammoth unravellings (speculatively). Even physicists
As these, must needs come to a point in their
Mapping out of things where they insist:
My guess is as good as yours right now - air
Of our life still intrigues: we will never,
Never exhaust what breeds our pursuing what breeds.

Acrostic poem (on Poetry)

Presence spells where one's guttural cave drips, spent.
Outing of misery begins, laconically enough:
Ease on through obfuscation; blaze plain, and where
The feather touch fails, use the freight train.
Response is nothing. What’s behind of behind of behind
Yields like a child to the banquet in his mother’s mind.

Acrostic poem (on Sin)

Several deadly, which beatitudes will counter.
It is one or the other; no whiling it away,
No timely recession. There's death and resurrection.

Acrostic poem (On Sister)

Sibling of spirit; whether familial blood pertain too,
It is second in line, and depends upon unseen
Spirit, for while both may be present between,
There is one alone, and one which will full
Elicit, with or without bond of blood,
Residing fondness, comporting our paired insignia.

It's quite funny. The sitemeter shows that at least seven different people from different countries around the world have ended up at this blog when searching for the words: "acrostic sister poem", or a variation thereon. They inevitably land at this post.

My speculation is that certain people the world over are searching for an acrostic poem for their sister, an acrostic poem on the word, 'sister'. They then go to my post, and to their disappointment, discover that the acrostic poem is on 'pumpkin scones'. The poem was dedicated to one of my sisters, pumpkin scone expert. The poem's title included the dedication.

The meter shows they spend zero time reading the poem. Because well, this blog with its pumpkin scone poem, is delaying their search for an acrostic poem on the word, 'sister'. Impatient little buggers.

So, I figured I would write an acrostic poem on the word, 'sister'. Yes, to you, searcher for an acrostic poem on the word, 'sister', look no further. You can use it if you want, to give to your sister. You do not have to credit it to me, but, and I emphasize but, if dare credit it to yourself, I will come to haunt you in your dreams you lying scum.

With that little caveat in mind, do feel free to use it, good and honest person. Here it is:

Sibling of spirit; whether familial blood pertain too,
It is second in line, and depends upon unseen
Spirit, for while both may be present between,
There is one alone, and one which will full
Elicit, with or without bond of blood,
Residing fondness, comporting our paired insignia.

If that is too metaphysical for your tastes, and you are looking for something more gooey, then be off with you!

Acrostic Poem (for sister)

Polish them off, one by one, the puffy scones.
Usually though, no more than two, for they fill
Mine stomach up, and so one has to still
Presumptuous hands, being scony-prone.
Kippers are good with toasty rye
Inlayed with butter, and then some beer.
Naught though at times are my taste, so they steer

Straight for said dainties and darkest night
Coffee: Sugar in both and pumpkin in
One. No mess it makes, except for crumbs;
No worries, there's a plate! See how it works!
Exfoliating scones drop odd pieces thereon;
Stomach takes the rest, while on palette coffee lurks!
