This board was prepared by my teacher, and it was sanded by me. The board of my previous icon (this St. Michael one is only my second) was also prepared by my teacher, then sanded by me. My teacher has yet to teach me about preparing the board. He devotes an entire week or two just to preparing boards of various sizes, so that he has a store of them, ready at a pinch. I need to learn it from him then, whenever he's making them.
I'm not sure one can purchase icon boards already made. I don't know, but I think if one is going to write/paint icons, he must accept that he is going to be preparing his own boards.

This is the first time I see an Icon in that stage! That is very cool! Did you end up learning how to do your own boards?
Oh yes, I've certainly learned to make boards since!
