Meditation

Consolation for the Christian often hurts. His joy is dangerous. Christianity is the one religion where the smashing of one’s paradigm is also the ascent to holiness, not merely a “humbling” prerequisite to enlightenment where one later looks wistfully back and says, “Ah yes, such an evil fool I was back in the day when my ego needed smashing”; but is itself the sanctified and sanctifying path, because Jesus, the Son of God went down it.
