Yes, the whole figure has a somnambulant air to it. It's basically a doodle I did on a scrap piece of paper, so that might explain part of it, though the passivity is also something iconographic in feel.
I really like your take on it, which I think is something I was getting at.
You should do a series of ink saints, I saw the Saint Peter and Paul one and it was really beautiful and then this one:) They would do nice bookmarks illustrations...

But then again, the devil probably does look pathetic to him.
I really like his wings, though, and the way they follow the "frame" of the drawing. I'll bet they could go on and on . . .
