After all that gray scale and black and white - this is how I can make my paintings look better! ;)

I find it interesting that the foreground is still very grey, while the background glows a little more with sunlight. Is that how you saw it from where you were standing, or are you making a statement?

It's basically how I saw it. To the "left" of the view the shore suddenly rises in a rather sheer kind of cliff with trees; it was this that cast a shadow.

I really wanted to finish this painting, but I had to go! Had I developed the rocks in both foreground and middle distance, there probably would be a less abrupt transition.

Though at the same time, you know me, I like my realms distinct!
