I was going to say that this is the head of eyeless worm beast that slithers in the sewer system and is known to suddenly appear in lavatories. One brave man, wrecker of mead-benches, cut off its head, and then stuck it on this post for all to see. Everyone celebrated, dancing around it, shouting hip hip hurray!
