I once heard that the actors who play the most hateful and convincing bullies are, in real life, also the nicest guys. I'm not sure how true this is, but I wouldn't be surprised if it went pretty much across the board.

I've been looking at more of his paintings and want to know the story behind those marked "Lost in Fire". A real freaking fire? =( We're conditioned to make much of the burning of books, but it's the burning of paintings--which can never simply be "reprinted"--that is the greater tragedy.
He makes me think "Norman Rockwell meets Edward Hopper, both having been reborn in the 80s."

The "Lost in Fire" is most likely just that: they got burned. Unless of course Wilson is just joking. And seeing his exuberant joshing nature, like in his FAQ section of his website, such joking would not be below him.
Yeah, paintings being burned in fires is such a tragedy, one suffered especially by iconographers back in the days (pillage and persecution).
And then there are those artists who actually burn their own paintings on purpose, like Georges Rouault.
I can totally see that with Romance novelists. It's sort of, in a lesser way, like poets.
