Ohhhhh this is beautiful! But why is she so sad?
Thank you! She's standing before her son on the cross. The drawing was done after an old icon I came across - the left panel of a triptych.I'll be posting another drawing in which the whole scene is depicted.
Ahh that makes sense! Ps. Last Sunday was icon Sunday in the byzantine Catholic tradition! (This one is reliques one)
Yes, that's right - the priest at Mass last Sunday mentioned that and quoted St. John Crysostom and went on to say how it's good thing to make painted images etc. I didn't know that about this Sunday.
