Medium: Charcoal

Appears to be the Ch. pencil and not a stick; good medium for the image :)

Yes, it's the pencil. Do you also find that it needs it to be sharpened with a knife and that the regular pencil sharpener only causes the charcoal tip to break?

I'm beginning to think that charcoal is to graphite what the brush is to the those micron pens. It has a life of its own. Charcoal, as with the brush among other ink mediums, remains "king" of the pencils.

LOL Yes. I pretty much either use an exacto knife or a sandpaper pad to sharpen all my points. And yes, charcoal has always been the most animated medium. I, however, usually end up covered from head to toe with it and leave a trail of my path through the village. Better when I stick to lead.
