Stilwell, I'm not sure whether you planned this in advance, but there's something unsettling (and I don't mean in a bad way) about going from the Beckmann painting with the huge-handed adults to this depiction of Pilate's washing his hands of Jesus, Whose own hands aren't visible.
There was a time hands were the only thing I ever doodled. I was fascinated with the joints in the fingers.
There *is* something unsettling about that, all the more so since I didn't plan it at all - nor would have seen it had you not pointed it out.
You know, when Beckmann was a student, before he really knew what his career was going to be, that also was what he drew most often. He found hands to be humorous.
